Brass on Baltimore

Kansas City, MO

This historic building was built in downtown Kansas City in 1922. Formerly the home of the Kansas City Club, the 15 story building was adapted in 2015 for use as loft units and event space. RTE Technologies, Inc. originally served as structural consultants for JE Dunn for a modest remodeling. We advised on failing stone anchorages and designed the fabrication and construction sequence to support a column as it was removed to permit a larger event space.

Our more extensive work with the building happened as the Engineers’ of Record for The O’Bryan Partnership and McCown-Gordon Contractors’ substantial remodeling of the entire building.  A whole-buildling adaptive reuse renovation required engineering of a myriad of details so that mezzanines lofts could be installed, communicating stairs could be inserted in between floors, and significant areas of corrosion could be corrected.
