Kauffman Performing Arts Center

Kansas City, MO

The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts has become an architectural focal point of the downtown Kansas City skyline and RTE Technologies, Inc. is proud to have contributed to this iconic structure. The Kauffman Center features two halls for performing arts. The design of one hall focused on supreme quality acoustics, and other hall features a proscenium stage with a world class quality flyloft.  The building is home to the local Kansas City Ballet, Lyric Opera, and Kansas City Symphony.

Construction on the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts began in 2006 and was completed in 2011. RTE Technologies, Inc. served as a structural engineering consultant to three different clients on this project: The City of Kansas City, MO, JE Dunn Construction Co., and Walton Construction Co. The primary tasks for RTE on this project were: structural peer reviews, construction engineering tasks, and forensic analyses for two significant failure events during construction.  Our engineers offered solutions to fix failures in the cable network and solutions to stabilize the columns in the tension strutted framing that supports the impressive glass panel facade.  RTE Technologies, Inc. has been retained to resolve problems and offer design improvements on multiple projects at the center following the building completion.
